Juan A. Crestanello, M.D., is a cardiovascular surgeon who specializes in surgery for valvular heart disease through conventional and minimally invasive approaches. His other clinical interests include cardiac reoperations, radiation and carcinoid induced heart disease, adult congenital heart surgery, and surgery for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Crestanello research interests are focused on clinical outcomes after cardiac surgery procedures. He has published more than 200 peer reviewed articles.
Dr. Crestanello earned his medical degree from the University of the Republic of Uruguay Medical School. He trained in General Surgery at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He then completed his cardiothoracic training at the Mayo Clinic. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Crestanello is a Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and The American Association for Thoracic Surgery.
