Noninvasive imaging for suspected CAD: Which test when?

Mayo Clinic cardiologists Nandan S. Anavekar, M.B., B.Ch., and Amber N. Boler, M.D., discuss noninvasive imaging for coronary artery disease (CAD).

Several noninvasive imaging tests are available for the assessment of CAD, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiac imaging, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT. The two most important factors in determining whether noninvasive testing is an option are the availability of the technology and the availability of experts at each center.
