Guest: Allen J. Aksamit, Jr., M.D.

Host: Danielle (DeeDee) J. Stiepan (@deedeestiepan)

Originally identified as a respiratory disease, COVID-19 causes neurological symptoms in some patients, including stroke, loss of consciousness, headache, and even the loss of taste and smell. What's unknown is whether these are direct effects of the virus entering the nervous system, or consequences of the disease's effect on the body.

Allen J. Aksamit, Jr., M.D., a Mayo Clinic neurologist, discusses potential neurological effects of COVID-19.
