Faster tumor analysis software speeds cancer discoveries

With the glut of data generated through next-generation sequencing, interpretation has become the new bottleneck in scientific discovery and clinical application, says George Vasmatzis, Ph.D., with Molecular Medicine at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota. New software developed at Mayo Clinic aligns genome sequences to a reference genome up to 20 times faster and with 25 percent greater reliability than currently available technologies.
