Prior oral contraceptive use associated with better outcomes for patients with ovarian cancer

Patients who develop ovarian cancer appear to have better outcomes if they have a history of oral contraceptive use. Mayo Clinic Cancer Center oncologist Aminah Jatoi, M.D., discusses the study, Prior oral contraceptive use in ovarian cancer patients: Assessing associations with overall and progression-free survival, which was published in BMC Cancer in 2015, and its implications for treatment potential.
