Effect of state policies on organ donation — Organ donation and transplantation in the news

Jayant A. Talwalkar, M.D., Mayo Clinic transplant hepatologist, discusses how recent state policies affect organ donation rates. Specifically, Dr. Talwalkar focuses on a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine that concluded that our current approaches for organ donation are not significantly increasing the number of life-saving transplants that could be performed annually. New policy designs are needed to close the gap between organ supply and demand.
